ANTIOXIDANTS : Reduce Risk of Many Disease
Antioxidants are molecules in your body which counter free radicles. Antioxidants have the ability to scavenge free radicals in the human body, and are suggested to contribute to the protective effect of plant-based food on diseases such as cardiovascular disease (CVD), cancer, and type 2 diabetes. However, evidence from supplementation studies that use different antioxidants, including vitamin C , vitamin E, carotenoids, zinc, or selenium, does not support the hypothesis that antioxidants reduce the risk of these diseases. Intervention studies highlight a lack of information on the safety of sustained intakes of moderate to high doses of micronutrient supplements and suggest that it is impossible to rule out long-term harm, especially in smokers. Thus a reduction agent can also be called an antioxidant.
GO KART FROM SCRATCH FOR CAPSTONE PROJECT
What else other than the Final Year Project for Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering students to complete before graduation? The answer is the Capstone Project, or some known as the Integrated Design Project (IDP), which focuses on the design and development of a product. For the semester of October 2021, the student is required to perform a group and start on the design and analysis. The project continues the development activities from March 2022 until August 2022 to develop a functioning Go Kart.
The versatility of single-stranded DNA By: Dr. Kishan Raj Selva Raju 11th April 2022
Good news! The world is now recovering from the global pandemic (Covid-19) that took millions of lives in short time. Not just the lives were gone, the economic stability of many nations took a hit as well. Thanks to modern biotechnology and the innovative minds behind it who played vital roles solving this worldwide threat. Yes! Monoclonal antibodies, antiviral drugs and the most advance and latest RNA-based vaccines are the talk of the town which received unconditional recognition for saving lives throughout the world. Thanks to the masterminds who developed these biotechnology-based treatments and prevention measures to curb continuous spread of the threat.
SUSTAINABILITY OF PRODUCT THROUGH DESIGN STRATEGIES
Effective recovery of end-of-life product is necessary to reduce their impact to the environment. The inclusion of “green design” thinking in the design process is vital to promote the circular economy and sustainability of the product. Design strategies could facilitate this initiative by introducing various ‘X-factors’ in the design, namely as Design for X. Design for X is one of the powerful approaches that aimed to achieve a targeted objective at the design stage. The Design for Sustainability (DfS) is one of the major approaches that focusing on the lifecycle of product. For instance, Design for Upgradability (DfU) is a strategy at the product design stage capable of extending a product’s lifetime and thus, able to enhance the recovery potential of a product through remanufacturing. Design for Repair and Restoration, other approach that focusing on repair and restoration works by examining possible failures and damages that will be experienced by the products, hence possible action can be taken to solve the problems.
CATAPULT PROJECT DESIGN PRODUCT & SYSTEM DESIGN
A catapult model is required to be outlined and created to satisfy two distinctive actions beneath the course Product & System Design EMB3323. Firstly, the catapult model which can be fabricated must be able to launch the payload which may be a ping-pong ball into a bucket generally 8 feet away. Besides, the catapult model must be able to launch tennis balls to break a divider made out of plastic bottles around 8 feet away.
