Mass Communication Week 2021: Accelerate Digital Transformation Campaign

On the third week of September 2021, Department of Mass Communication, Manipal International University held their annual Mass Communication Week event. The difference between this year’s Mass Communication Week compared to the past few years is that this year, everything is done online. All seminars and workshops are done through the well-known platform, Zoom.
The group of students who were taking the Event Planning and Management subject during this semester were the ones who planned and organized this weeklong event alongside Miss Elillarasi Kupusamy as the Chief Advisor for the event.
MIU-USR 2021 Merdeka Donation Drive
NILAI: In conjuction with Merdeka Celebration 2021, Manipal International University (MIU) University Social Responsibility (USR) team has launched a massive campaign to help the needy people around Nilai from 23-28 August affected during Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
The team on the ground was led by Dr Rohihah Sahak and assisted by Hj. Mohd. Shah Abdullah, Zarith Nurzafirah, Zuriana Zakaria and Nasif Mohd. Idris. MIU-USR main committee is chaired by Mr Shuhaimi Mohd. Sauh.
The team distributed 30 foodbaskets to the multiracial Nilai community in multiple selective locations. The team first checkpoint was Pertubuhan Kebajikan Muafakat Nilai led by Mr Charlie Yeoh and later approached the other local community leaders to facilitate the foodbaskets distribution.
The MIU-USR campaign 2021 was established by the MIU academic and support staff mainly to assist the needy people affected by the unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic crisis. It was endorsed by the Senior Leadership of Manipal International University.
Mr Charlie Yeoh thanked MIU for the noble initiative and the association was ready to collaborate on USR future activities.
Meanwhile, the community leaders were also grateful and thanked MIU for the foodbasket donation campaign.
How I kept myself entertained during the covid 19 pandemic:
Hello! I am Krishie, 19 years old and I’m a final year Diploma in Mass Communication student. The covid-19 pandemic has been a really big hit in my life because of various reasons but I will pin point it into one; my MBTI type is an INFP, these personality types always have an imaginative mind and constantly need stimulation to live, be it a small vacation or a beautiful hike. I am used to visiting beautiful new places every weekend with my partner of 6 years and my uncle and aunt, these three people mean a lot to me and they have brought me into so many adventures.
But during covid-19, we could not meet each other anymore because we live in different states. A line sung by my favourite artist Lana Del Rey from her song ‘The Greatest’ sings; “we didn’t know that we had it all, but nobody warns you before the fall”, that is exactly how I felt about being separated from my loved ones.

Chong Yi Fei - An Alumnus Story of MIU
Chong Yei Fei, 24, is an alumnus of Manipal International University who was in the class of 2020 for Bachelor of Accountings. Chong started working in the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) as a risk investment analyst earlier this year in the month of April and she was fortunate enough to be nominated and win the quarterly performance award for the months of April to June 2021.
This quarterly performance award is given to either a team or a person and to be nominated to win this award, they will have to reach the daily Key Performance Indicator (KPI) for the entire quarter. Chong’s team manager is very strict ...
