Overview

Bachelor of Computer Engineering with Honours

The IT industry in Malaysia has been booming since the introduction of the Multimedia Super Corridor in the mid-90s. Several of the world’s major IT players have hubs in Malaysia.

The computer engineering students are trained not only to create, build and manage IT systems and products to cater to specific needs in the industry, but also to be sensitive towards how these systems are integrated within organisations.

The students in the Bachelor of Computer Engineering (Hons.) will not only be trained to be effective professionals, but also to possess the necessary soft skills to be high achievers in this competitive industry.

Eligibility Criteria

ENTRY LEVEL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
STPM Pass with minimum of 2 Grade C including Mathematics and 1 Physical Science
subject
UEC Pass with minimum of 5 Grade B including Mathematics and 1 Science Subject
A-LEVEL 2 Passes in Mathematics and 1 Science subject
MATRICULATION
/ FOUNDATION
  • Diploma in Engineering/Engineering Technology (recognized by the Malaysian
    Government) with CGPA 2.00;
  • or

  • Diploma in Vocational and Technical/Skills in related field (recognized by the
    Malaysian Government) with CGPA 2.00
DIPLOMA Pass Diploma in the relevant field from Institution of Higher Learning
(recognized by the Malaysian Government)
Others Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the
Malaysian Government

Programme Learning Outcomes

 

The Programme Learning Outcomes (PLO) or Programme Outcomes (PO), are the statements that describe what students are expected to know and be able to perform or attain by the time of graduation. These relate to the knowledge, skills and attitudes that students acquire through the programme. The Table below lists the PLO statements for the Department of Computer Engineering that has been directly adopted from the Section 4.0 of the EAC Manual 2012 for Engineering Programme with slight change in their sequence.

Engineering Knowledge – Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals and an engineering specialisation to the solution of complex engineering problems; WK1 – WK4

Problem Analysis – Identify, formulate, research literature and analyse complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences and engineering sciences;  WK1 – WK4

PLO 3

Design / Development of Solutions – Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design systems, components or process that meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal and environmental considerations;  WK5

PLO 4

Investigation – Conduct investigation into complex problems using research based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of information to provide valid conclusions;  WK8

PLO 5

The Engineer and Society – Apply reasoning by contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to professional engineering practice;  WK7

Environment and Sustainability – Understand the impact of professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate knowledge of and need for sustainable development;  WK7
