Changing people's lives for the better. (Ending poverty)

Our chosen sustainable development goal is to focus on ending poverty and impacting people's lives who have been and are currently living under rough or not so pleasant circumstances. We feel quite strongly about the SDG for number one due to various reasons. The main reason being that we contemplate on the thought that we could be in that person's shoes, and what would we want others to do to help us to get out of this poverty. And because of this kind of thinking, it makes us want to take action and do something good, not for ourselves but for the ones who have less. Even though we don’t know the people we are helping, it’s not about knowing them, but more about standing with humanity instead of against it based on what people assume and put together without any proof such as assumptions of homeless people being addicts to drugs or alcohol. In England, we have many homeless people. Sleeping rough, in tents, inside bushes, park benches, doorways. This is not the worst part. The worst part is when it becomes too cold and people are still living in these inhumane ways of living. This has resulted in people getting hypothermia. Dying because of it or just being really affected by hypothermia that they constantly feel frozen. And this happens just because shelters are full and the homeless person who made an application for a flat is still on the waiting list, not knowing when they’ll actually get a room. People don’t want to live like this, but sometimes they have no choice. In Malaysia, me and the group talked about the most vulnerable being exposed to begging. For example, one man had no legs, was sitting in the market, begging, with full on heat. We would think the government would be doing something about this, but clearly no action has been taken. We want to try and give to these people. To show them that we care and we can do that by using so many methods.
“Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference.” Kathy Calvin
what we plan to achieve by the end of this project is to create that difference even though it might seem small but Effective so:
- As we mention on (Estimative budget) and how we going to finance our case, our objective is to Get the donor involved in the operation and plant the spirit of giving in it (win-win situation )
- To draw attention to the various schemes sponsored by Government, Non-Government and Voluntary Organisations and to help the deserving people to avail of the assistance.
- To be the spark to help, at least to the people around us.
The goal of our project is to assist the most vulnerable people in our community, regardless of age or gender. As a result of the global pandemic, many people have lost their jobs or closed their businesses, resulting in an economic crisis. This circumstance is the only thing that can result in an increase in mortality, increased crime, and a lack of security in our environment. As a result, we decided to start with this project in order to be able to focus on different more vulnerable areas, such as orphaned children, and help bring them food, clothes, and necessities that they will lack.
As part of our initiative, we want to generate money through running a small company and collecting donations If, for example, one individual decides to create a cake and then sell it to people out there. There is a charge of RM30 per. In other words, if three cakes are sold, we can make up to Rm 90 .As a result, we're going to urge students in Rm 2 to donate money so that we may buy goods like rice, milo powder, and tin food to help people who are facing poverty.
The SDG one, which is called ‘No poverty’ has a lot to do with making it possible to create a positive impact for those who need it the most. We want to be able to accomplish as many of the activities as possible for the less fortunate, so that maybe that will also motivate others to follow in our footsteps and do the same thing or even more than what we have done. Helping people is very important. If we are not helping people, even by taking those small steps, what exactly are we teaching the future generations. We hope to make a difference by this project from taking these small steps and eventually continuing our work and walking into bigger steps.
