EM's Ir Dr Cheong Thiam Fook Talk to the Students of MIU's SOSE

On the 10th of December, The Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM)'s Ir Dr Cheong Thiam Fook, who is the Chairman of Membership Drive and Promotion, shared with students from Manipal International University (MIU)'s School of Science and Engineering details regarding IEM as well as the benefits, procedures and requirements of becoming a member of the institution.
Besides that, the speaker also shared infomration in the field of engineering as well as his own extensive experience as an engineer and leadership motivation for the students present.
IEM, established in 1959, promotes and advances the science and profession of engineering in any or all of its disciplines and facilitates the exchange of information and ideas related to engineering.
The organisation is currently one of the largest professional organisation in the country with a membership count of about 30,000 and a growth rate of about 10% per annum.
This is the first time such a talk has been organised at MIU. About 100 students attended the talk.
The talk was organised under our School of Science and Engineering by Prof Jamaludin bin Mat, a Civil Engineering lecturer at MIU, and Alex Lam, a Civil Engineering student at MIU, who also served as the liaison between the MIU and the IEM.
